The One Smart-Casual Outfit Every Man Needs.

The term "Smart-Casual" is the bane of my life. Quite frankly, part of me dies every time I see those horrific words on a party invite, but there is an easy fall back for men that is going to get you the compliments and will reap in the women...

You will need:
Chinos (white or beige)
A white or pastel blue shirt
A red tie (optional)
Black polished shoes with a matching belt
A navy blue sports coat or suit jacket

1. Do not wear pleated trousers! They will either make you look fat, or if you are already on the 'round side' gigantic!

2. Obviously if you can get a shirt cut that is tailored to your body type then do, but if you're wearing the jacket over the top this is less vital.

3. I think that the red tie is a step up in formality and I always prefer to dress too smart than too casual (you can always take the tie off).

Here is an example of this style of look:

I really like the coordinating jumper and pocket square, which adds stability and balance to the colours. If you have a jumper handy and it's going to be cold then go for it! Just make sure that the jumper doesn't contrast too much with the shirt and the jacket, so try purple or green. It's all about the balance of colours and as long as you have this in mind when you pick out the outfit you can avoid making basic style errors.

So until next time,

Dress Hot - Be Hot!
