Outfit of the day!

The sun is shining (where I am at least), so it's time to look for some summer appropriate clothing! Today's outfit will require a little more self confidence to pull it off than any of the other outfits I've put together, but trust me, the rewards will come thick and fast!

You will need:

1. Shorts of some form.

- Let's be honest, when the sun's out, no one wants to be wearing trousers. If you're just out and about, then chino shorts can be really nice (get the sandy beige ones), but if you're on the beach try to go for a lighter fabric or just wear swimming trunks. Cut off jeans can also look great, but make sure you get ones that are fitted to your quads, or you'll look like you have really weird legs.

2. Polo or shirt?

- Here is a great opportunity to get out a polo shirt, which would look great wether you're wearing swimming trunks or chino shorts. Remember that navy blue makes a timeless impact and therefore if you have a navy polo this is a great choice.

- A short sleeve shirt would also look great, but try to go Wild West with the colours and patterns, because the contrast with your plain shorts will look great. These are a nice option for evening trips to the beach, as the cotton is warm, but breathable.

3. Footwear.

- Wearing no socks in the summer is all the rage and as long as you've broken in your shoes, it won't feel different. If you're out and about, go for some navy or brown suede loafers, while if you're on the beach get your sandals. Avoid black, as it's too formal a colour for the beach.

4. Accessories.

- Read my post on men's jewellery for more general advice, but anything (shark teeth for example) on a twine or leather thong will look great! Don't wear metals, they look a bit out of place, especially on the beach. Also, avoid wearing anything too precious, because we've all lost stuff on the beach before. For more inspiration, see David Gandy to the right.

- This is one of those very rare occasions when you can mix and match belt and watch colours a bit (they still need to be browns), with different shades of the same colour. This being said, if you're on the beach I don't recommend wearing one; there's nothing wrong with wearing one, but they can look out of place at times.

- I am running out of things to write, but if any of you are like the clothing David Gandy's wearing, it's all from Lucky Brand.
