Caring for your skin.

- Most of the men I know tend to run away from products marked as moisturisers or exfoliators, as they feel that they're not only a waist of their precious time and money, but also lead them down a road ending with them being marked as a raging homo. How wrong they all are!

- For men who have never moisturised and intend never to do so, all I can say is that no woman (unless she's into that kind of thing) is likely to enjoy kissing a peeling face. In the same way, no woman is going to want to sample your selection of dead and dirty skin cells that riddle your face because you refuse to use an exfoliating scrub. However, if the frightening picture of the woman holding an apricot below won't scare you into using one, then I don't know what will!

Here's what you need:

1. St. Ives Restoring Moisturiser.

- I have used a variety of moisturisers, but this has always been my favourite. You can pick it up for about £5 (which is quite cheap when you look at how much money women will spend) and it will last for between six to twelve months.

- I tend to use mine about an hour before I go to bed and in the morning if my skin is feeling dry. If you start to develop any acne, it either means that you're allergic to an ingredient, or it more likely means that you're using too much and should take a break for a day or two.

- I use this all over my body, but when I was younger and my skin was significantly worse, I found that a lighter moisturiser (often referred to as hand and body lotions) would be better at night.

2. Apricot Facial Scrub (any brand will do).

- These can be on the more expensive side when compared to other exfoliators, but you'll be glad to know that you can use these once a week (or perhaps less if you shave, which also acts as a form of exfoliation).

- I know that St. Ives do one of these as well, which at £3 is very good value (the last one I bought was at least £5). This being said, I've never used it and as such can't report on how well it works. Nevertheless, they're all based on the same ingredients, so I wouldn't worry.

I need to check my stocks, so until tomorrow:

Outfit of the day (men).

It's cold where I am, but I'm not going anywhere special, so you could expect to see me in something like the outfit I'm about to describe.

You will need:

1. Navy blue jeans.

- Go for a darker shade of navy and try to buy straight fit jeans, or you'll end up with a whole load of extra fabric you don't need. In colder weather you can leave distressed jeans at home.

2. A leather jacket.

- I'm going to do a post on these soon, as they're a real style staple if chosen correctly, but in the meantime pick either a black or a deep chocolate brown. I would go for brown, because it's less formal and more inviting.

-There are really nice alternatives out there like David Gandy's jacket on the left, which is made from lambs skin.

- The key here is to pick something that is tailored or at least vaguely fitted, which for some can mean just buying a size smaller than you usually would, because leather jackets have only recently been made in this way.

3. A grey V-neck T-Shirt

- Grey goes really nicely with the chocolate brown of a jacket, but at the same time it can still look great with a black jacket. The V-neck also helps to streamline your body, but I recommend that you ensure you're wearing a tailored T-Shirt, or the excess fabric will bulge together and make you appear fat if you've got your zip done up.

4. Shoes.

- Make sure you coordinate the leather of your jacket with the leather of your shoes (unless you're wearing an alternative as described above). As always, if you have any accessories make sure they coordinate (incidentally shiny watches are good to go here).

-If you're some what vertically challenged (like me), this is an occasion when you can get out your Cuban heels.

You may end up looking something like this:

Fancy Dress (men and women)

You may think that I've dropped a few marbles if I'm now applying style rules to fancy dress parties, but there is more to this idea than meets the eye. People subconsciously judge each other on a variety of factors and what you look like is one of the major factors.

I know that some times parties are themed specifically, but for those dubbed merely as "fancy dress" pick an outfit that acts as a banner of either your own thoughts and beliefs, or the ones you want to portray.

Examples:
- I have always gone as a gladiator, not because I like killing people, but because it projects ideas of strength (both metal and physical) and self honour.

- Although speaking about strength and honour can be seen as somewhat humorous, it's still a valid point.

- This same idea works in two ways though, because while people are subconsciously viewing me with strength and honour (It's worth pointing out that in reality they're unlikely to consciously think of me like this), women often end up with the reverse effect.

- If you're a woman, dressing like a prostitute is only going to lead to men treating you like a prostitute and although I abhor men who act like this, you're still bringing it on yourself to an extent. Visually singing "I'm a whore" doesn't grant you subconscious levels of respect.

- When it comes to picking up a fancy dress outfit, just go onto Amazon. On a side note, try to make stuff as well, as it gives you a higher level of individuality. The cape for my gladiator outfit was made from some old chain and a piece of shiny fabric.

- Please accessorise your outfit! People will always have more respect for you when you look like you've made the effort. I have a Corinthian helmet that I take along to parties (it weighs so much that wearing it can be a little bit extreme).

I can't think of anything else to write, but remember (aside from Dress Hot - Be Hot!) to dress how you want others to perceive you.

See you later!

Why women shouldn't wear board shorts.

I'm writing this from the Pembrokeshire coast where I've been staying for the past twenty-four hours. Two things have struck me since my arrival:

1. There would appear to be a positive correlation between BMI and nakedness.
2. Lots of women are wearing board shorts.

Instead of me ranting about fat people, I'm going to rant about board shorts, so here are the reasons why board shorts aren't flattering:

1. They hide your figure.

- Board shorts are never tailored to the female form (they'd still look horrendous if they were) and in effect all of these straight lines eliminate any womanly curves.

- Normally I would give advice on which style to buy, but I find them so infuriating that on this occasion I'm not going to bother.

2. They alter your visual weight balance.

- One of the major issues here is that by covering your waist and hips with board shorts you can end up either creating a visual apple shape or a pear shape. In short you're never going to be able to make an hourglass figure with board shorts.

3. Colours and patterns.

- I appreciate that these are only ever worn in the summer and that the sun shining is our excuse to wear bolder colours and patterns. However, for some reason the manufacturers of board shorts seem to have missed out on subtle colouring and instead pick their colour schemes by asking a child to vomit a set of crayons onto a blank canvas.

- The long and short of it is that you'll be very hard pressed to ever find a way of coordinating board shorts.

Outfit of the day (ladies)

The sun is shining and it's not too hot or too cold. This means summer dresses! The example I'm going to use is ideal if you're apple shaped or rectangle shaped, but avoid it if you're pear shaped. As per usual, hourglass ladies can do what ever they like.

You will need:

1. A dress a bit like this:

- The V-neck will be ideal for ladies who are rectangle shaped because the V in effect helps to create a visual waistline, while the flowing bottom of the dress helps to enhance this visual waistline.

- When it comes to patterns and colours, try to go for upbeat colours and patterns (it is summer after all). Remember that white always looks good in the summer, so try to pick a balance between bolder colours and white.

2. Accessories:

- Go for smaller jewellery and accessories with this style of dress, as in the summer less often is more (unless you're out on the pull, in which case larger jewellery around the neck will catch the attention of men faster).

- If your dress is lacking in colour, you can make a striking outfit by having one strong colour for all of your accessories and shoes. The navy blue pearls above would be a good example for this summer dress.

3. Shoes:

- You need to coordinate with the dress, so try to pick out shoes which pluck one of the colours in your dress out. If we're continuing the example above the shoes to the right would be a good choice.

Men's Swimwear

If you walk into a shop you'll generally speaking, have two choices when it comes to swimwear: hipster and creepy paedophile (I refer to them like this because my family used to know someone who used to wear this style of swimwear in bright pink and also turned out to be a paedophile). Sadly the line isn't always as clear cut as this, which makes buying swimwear a difficult task for most men (women almost always have it easier).

Here are some tips:

1. Styles.

- The image to the left puts into perspective the amount of choices the average man has. The light blue trunks second from the left and second from the right are best avoided. These two are the hipster and paedophile swimwear.

- Any of the other typed are fine to wear. A word of warning though, the shorter your swimwear the more confident you have to be when you wear it. Most guys will find the trunks to the far left the most appropriate.

2. Colours.

- The summer is all about having fun, so don't be boring and have fun with colours. I opted for navy blue and white with my latest trunks, but you can be more bold and still look great.

- Where the colours are on the trunks also effect how streamlining it is. If you're on the larger side, do a Daniel Craig and have black on the sides of the trunks, which pulls your waist in and makes you look thinner and more defined.

3. Accessories.

- Go all out here. You can have anything from colourful sports watches to men's jewellery. Try to avoid metals, because they can look out of place and keep expensive mechanical watches off the beach (they don't do well with sand).

- Are you fat? If so, wear a polo (please read my post on these before you buy one) or a cotton shirt in the water! If they're not white and you've gone for thick fabrics, no one will be able to see your belly. Then again, if your fat, you shouldn't be and you ought to lose some weight.
